Taking Care of You
When you feel sick: what do you do? Your reaction to symptoms of an illness is medical self care. The more informed you are about your health and when to seek professional medical care the better off you will be. Health care is a team effort. It is important that you understand how to take care of you.
Good health care begins with good communication. However, research indicates that about half of adults in this country have problems understanding health information. Take steps to make sure you understand the information your provider has given you. Research shows that patients who have a good relationship with their providers receive better care and are happier with the care they receive.
