Why Breastfeed a Baby?

There are many advantages to breastfeeding. Recent studies have measured the impact breastfeeding can have on the mother and infant. Here are ten reasons to support breastfeeding:

  1. Reduced risk of adult obesity

7. Less stress

  1. Reduced risk of osteoporosis

8. Reduced risk of Rheumatoid Arthritis

  1. Improved lung function

  1. Reduced risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome

10. Reduced risk of cardiovascular disease

In many of these studies, it was found that the benefits increased the longer a child was breastfed. Lactation consultants and lactation counselors are available to help you, before or after a baby is born.
