Focus of the Month – June 2014
Why Breastfeed a Baby?
There are many advantages to breastfeeding. Recent studies have measured the impact breastfeeding can have on the mother and infant. Here are ten reasons to support breastfeeding:
For Infant |
For Mother |
6. Lower blood pressure |
7. Less stress |
8. Reduced risk of Rheumatoid Arthritis |
9. Reduced risk of Metabolic Syndrome |
10. Reduced risk of cardiovascular disease |
In many of these studies, it was found that the benefits increased the longer a child was breastfed. Lactation consultants and lactation counselors are available to help you, before or after a baby is born.
